Supplements are anything you add to your food or drinks to make them more nutritious. It can be:

They can help prevent nutrient deficiencies and improve your overall health. However, it would help if you never relied on them instead of a healthy, balanced diet.

For example, vitamin C (a water-soluble vitamin) needs to be replenished every day from your diet because you get rid of it in urine. If you don't eat lots of fruit and vegetables, it's easy to become deficient in this.
