The Healthy Lifestyle Tips You Need to Know

It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is essential to stop smoking, drink alcohol in moderation, and eat well.

The article then instructs the reader to give some guidelines on what makes for a healthy diet along with examples of healthy food groups.

There are a lot of things that you can do to maintain a healthy body. You don't have to spend tons of money on things like organic food, supplements and the gym.

One way is to replace your processed foods with whole foods. Processed food is in everything nowadays, so it might not be easy at first but at least try as hard as you can! Some examples of processing would be food coloring, preservatives and anything made with white flour or sugar; some examples of whole foods would be fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

Another idea would be to move more! One study found that people who work out for just two ten minutes sessions each day for five days a week had improved their fitness levels by  23%! I know, just ten minutes per day isn't much but that's why it's called "just ten minutes"!

Another thing you can do is simply stop smoking. Smoking has been proven to cause a slew of cancers and even heart disease. Another study found that lung cancer patients who smoked were 35-40 times more likely to  develop diabetes than normal people. This is because smoking can decrease your body's sensitivity to insulin. It also makes it harder for your cells to take up sugar.

Lastly, you should probably get some more sleep! Studies have shown that a lack of sleep can double the risk of obesity and diabetes in adults.

Here are some diet suggestions :

  • Avoid sugary drinks. Drink water instead! Soda is full of calories and sugar, while water has none at all. If you don't like plain ol' water you could always add in a little bit of lemon juice or pineapple juice to make it more flavorful.
  • Cut down on your meat consumption. Try replacing red  meat with legumes (beans, lentils) and tofu.
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables! I know a lot of people don't like eating fruits because they have so much sugar in them, but trust me when I say it's better than candy or cake. Fruits also contain a lot of fiber which helps keep your intestines  healthy.

  • Eat more whole grains! The only whole grain you should avoid are the refined wheat products. This means anything made with white flour like pastries, bagels, pizzas and of course those amazing little delicacies they call doughnuts. Instead try oats, brown rice, quinoa or barley.

These are just little things that you can do to keep yourself healthy. Remember, it's not about dieting or exercising until you drop, it's about a lifestyle change! Don't starve yourself or over-exercise because of the way you look; instead lose weight for your health and live longer by making smarter decisions !
